Data Governance Act: Common logo issued for easy identification of data intermediation services and data altruism organisations that are recognised at EU level

Today, the European Commission presents a common logo for the easy identification of data intermediation services and data altruism organisations as recognised in the Union, which will connect data holders (individuals or companies) with data users.

Data Governance logo

The identification of data intermediation services and data altruism organisations is part of the ongoing implementation of the Data Governance Act. The data intermediation services and data altruism organisations that fulfill the conditions in practice and who choose to use the logo will have to indicate this clearly in each publication both online and offline. The use of the common logo at EU level will facilitate the capacity to identify between recognised and non-recognised services and will enhance transparency in the data marketplace.

The logo of data altruism organisations recognised in the Union must be accompanied by a QR code that directs to a public database listing all recognised organisations at EU-level. The database will become available from September 24th, 2023.

The logos were approved via an implementing regulation and will be registered as copyrights, in order to be protected from possible abuse.

Data constitute a powerful resource that can contribute to innovation in the ecosystem of all European industries. The Data Governance Act (DGA) is a cross-sectoral instrument that aims to make more data available by regulating the re-use of publicly/held, protected data, by boosting data sharing through the regulation of novel data intermediaries and by encouraging the sharing of data for altruistic purposes.
