Commissioner Vălean in Limassol, Cyprus, for opening of Maritime Cyprus Conference and country visit

Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean will travel to Limassol, Cyprus, on 9 - 11 October for a country visit and to open the 2022 Maritime Cyprus international conference.

On Sunday, the Commissioner will meet with the President of Cyprus, Nicos Anastasiades, as well as representatives of the European and Cypriot shipping industry, addressing efforts to decarbonise shipping both in Europe and internationally. On Monday, 10 October, together with President Anastasiades and Kitack Lim, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization, Commissioner Vălean will open the Conference. She will also have a bilateral meeting with the Cypriot Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Yannis Karousos, and the Deputy Minister for Shipping, Vassilios Demetriades, on a wide range of ongoing transport policy files. The Commissioner and the two Ministers will then hold a press conference at 12:30 EEST. The Commissioner will further meet with the President and Members of the Transport Committee of the Cypriot Parliament. On the same day, Commissioner Vălean will also hold a debate with students at the Limassol Technical University, discussing the attractiveness of shipping studies in the higher education system of Cyprus.
