Commission raises awareness of the risks of disinformation and information manipulation

The Commission has launched a series of actions to raise awareness of the risks of disinformation, information manipulation and foreign interference, in the run-up to the European elections.

The Commission has launched a series of actions to raise awareness of the risks of disinformation, information manipulation and foreign interference, in the run-up to the European elections.

In collaboration with the European Regulators Group for Audiovisual Media Services (ERGA), which brings together the 27 independent national regulatory bodies in the field of audiovisual services, it launched a joint communications campaign aimed at inform citizens of the associated risks, encourage critical thinking and provide practical advice on how to spot and combat misinformation. The campaign video will be broadcast in all Member States, available in the 24 official EU languages until the beginning of June.

The Commission is also publishing a new toolkit with practical advice for teachers and educators, including practical suggestions to help them explain and empower students and young people about disinformation and information manipulation to recognize it and fight it.

In addition, a new webpage will provide a single point of access to all useful information and resources on strategic communication and combating disinformation.
