EU Vaccines Strategy: Commissioner Kyriakides visits Croatia and meets with Minister of Health

Visit of Stella Kyriakides, European Commissioner, to France

Tomorrow, 22 October, Commissioner Kyriakides will be in Zagreb, Croatia, where she will meet with the Minister of Health, Vili Beroš. Discussions will focus on the EU Vaccines Strategy and the roll-out of the national vaccination campaign in Croatia, as well as the way forward on the proposals under the European Health Union and Europe's Beating Cancer Plan. The meeting will be followed by a visit to a vaccination point and the Oncology Unit of the Children's Hospital. Ahead of the visit, Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, said: “The EU Vaccine Strategy is a joint endeavour of the European Commission and Member States and a great example of the power and efficacy of European solidarity. With vaccination numbers slowing down in Croatia and across Europe, we  are reaching a crucial stage in our vaccination campaigns. Winter is around the corner, other respiratory viruses are re-appearing, and it is crucial that no Member State is being left behind, remaining an unvaccinated pocket in Europe. With below 55% of the adult population fully vaccinated, Croatia needs to increase vaccination efforts as we progress into the winter. The message is clear: vaccination is and will be our strongest weapon against COVID. I am looking forward to discuss how the EU can further support the roll-out of the Croatian national vaccination campaign.” Tomorrow's actions are part of the Commission's on-going efforts and Commissioner Kyriakides's commitment to support the roll-out of Member States national COVID-19 vaccination campaigns.
