Commissioner Kyriakides to participate to the Health G20 in Rome

On 5 and 6 September, Stella Kyriakides, Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, will participate in a health ministerial meeting organized by the Italian Presidency of the G20. The meeting will focus on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global health and on its consequences in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. It will call for more action on “one health” and a better link between animal and human health, environmental conditions as well as global cooperation to support equitable access to disease control tools such as vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics. Ahead of her participation, Commissioner Kyriakides said: “The pandemic has made it critically clear how interconnected our global health systems are. The main lesson learned from the COVID-19 crisis is the crucial role of global cooperation and coordinated action. The European Union has been at the forefront of the collective response to these challenges, both internally and on the global stage, and I look forward to a meeting where a coherent and comprehensive new global health security architecture will be discussed.” #G20Italy
