According to the survey, 79% of respondents expressed satisfaction with their lives (a 4% drop since Spring 2024 survey), a figure lower than the European average (86 %). This standard Eurobarometer survey covers the period from October to November 2024.
Moreover, according to the survey’s results, migration is by far the most important issue facing Cyprus (50%) and the European Union (50%), while the European average stands at 20% and 28% respectively. Other important challenges faced by Cyprus and the EU include rising prices, inflation and the cost of living, the war in Ukraine and the economic situation, with the results in Cyprus significantly diverging from the European average.
The survey also sought citizens’ views on their trust in the EU, the image and sense of association with the EU and the citizens’ own country, as well as the consequences of the war in Ukraine, trust in the media, the threat of disinformation and their view on the overall direction of the country and the EU.
The Eurobarometer survey assesses the views of EU citizens living in the 27 EU Member States, as well as citizens living in the current candidate and potential candidate countries (except Ukraine) and the United Kingdom.
