New European Bauhaus: 20 innovative European start-ups selected for financial support

Statement by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner, on the adoption of the 2022 work programme of the European Innovation Council

Today, the Commission announced 20 highly innovative start-ups and scale-ups, which will receive financial support of € 50,000 each as part of the Community Booster initiative, launched by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and five of its Knowledge and Innovation Communities. Chosen out of 1,029 applications from 37 countries, the successful contenders will drive sustainable change and improve the overall life quality of European citizens as part of the New European Bauhaus transformation.

Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, said: “The New European Bauhaus is becoming a reality, ready to bring the ambitious goals of the European Green Deal into the spaces, cities, and homes we live in. The selected ventures are just the beginning. With the support of EIT, more innovators and entrepreneurs will enrich and reshape our living spaces and experiences.” The EIT Community booster was announced in 2021 to support 20 ventures with funding from the €5 million budget for EIT Community New European Bauhaus activities in 2021-2022.
