Commissioner Kyriakides in Cyprus on Thursday 29 February and Friday 1 March 2024

The Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Ms. Stella Kyriakides, is visiting Cyprus on Thursday 29 February and Friday 1 March 2024. On Thursday, the Commissioner's schedule includes participation in the press conference organised by the Pancyprian Association for Rare Genetic Diseases "Monadika Hamogela" ["Unique Smiles"] from 10:30 to 12:00, in the presence of the Minister of Health Michalis Damianou and the Deputy Minister of Socail Welfare, Marilena Evangelou. The Commissioner will then go to the University of Cyprus (Aglantzia Campus) and specifically to the Siakoleio Clinical Medicine Training Center — Center of Excellence for Biobanking and Biomedical Research, where from 15:00 to 16:00 she will hold a meeting with Dr. Constantinos Deltas and the members and staff of the Center of Excellence. From 16:30 to 17:30 Commissioner Kyriakides will visit the Health Insurance Organisation where she will have a meeting with the Acting General Director Athos Tsinontides and the Board of Directors and the staff of the Health Insurance Organisation.

On Friday, the Commissioner will deliver a speech at an event organised by the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence on the European Health Union and the importance of Member States' solidarity on health issues. This will be followed by an exchange of views with students on the participation of young people in European democracy and our common European values from 10:00 to 11:00. At 12:00 on the same day the Commissioner will meet with the President of DISY, Annita Dimitriou. The Commissioner's programme concludes with a meeting with the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Cancer Research Institute and the Clinic Directors of the Oncology Centre at 16:00.
